Ragtime Notches a Commanding Lead. Other Divisions Tight

Finishing in glorious style, Ragtime, Tina Roberts’ storied Spencer 65 crossed the finish line at Kaneohe Bay a comfortable sixteen hours ahead of her competitors in the fastest Pacific Cup division, the Pasha Hawaii ORR1 division. Scoring in the division is locked in with Ragtime’s finish. Second is Pyewacket 68, and third is the iridescent green Zeus.

“We’re overjoyed to see Ragtime to add this Pacific Cup victory to her impressive history,” said Communications Chair Michael Moradzadeh. “Congratulations to Tina and the whole crew for a great race.”

Another classic design, Viva, a Cal 40 belonging to Don Jesberg has finished with a solid six hour lead above fellow Cal 40s Green Buffalo and Duende in PHRF 2 - Bridger Marine Division. Second in that division will be Steve Smolinske’s True Love.

A close all out battle can be seen in the ORR 2  UK Sailmakers Division. Michael Spies’ J160 Maritimo 160 is leading Halawa by a scant 47 seconds as of this writing. Only a 75 minutes behind that pace is Oaxaca – Cal Maritime a classic Santa Cruz 50, and an hour past them is JWorld’s Cazan. Look one more hour and find Adrenalin. These boats are close enough that one good light air patch will totally scramble the order. Halawa should finish Sunday night, and the others Monday morning or midday.

PHRF 1, the Naos Yachts Division has had no finishers yet, but Commodore Tomkins’ Flashgirl, with Marco Misbach as skipper and Commodore as the most experienced crew we can imagine seems to have locked that division up.

ORR4 also has no finishers, but with only a few hours separating the leaders, we’ll just sit back and watch.

In ORR3, TC has finished, but Zaff has 200 miles to try to make up a two hour gap to push her off the top of the ticket.

All in all, there's more to watch on Sunday than some dudes kick a ball around.
