It’s All Over But the Cheering: Pac Cup Awards Tonight
We hand out the goodies tonight. Clocks, barometers, bowls, plaques, and a large glass dolphin grace the trophy table before tonight’s awards ceremony.
Ragtime will lead the honors list, with a first place in division and ORR overall victory. Tina Roberts’ classic Spencer 65 put in a great race to add to her impressive history of awards. She also anchored the team trophy win for St. Francis Yacht Club with another classic Merlin and Kimo Winterbottom’s Halawa.
For 2026, Pac Cup used a split scoring model, with equal attention to the PHRF fleet. Don Jesberg’s Viva, another classic: a Cal 40 took top honors in her division and PHRF overall.
Charly Devenneaux’ Rahan garnered quite a bit of attention with a sprint across the Pacific to be first to Hawaii, winning her division, the doublehanded ORR division named for late beloved race officer Bobbi Tosse. Rahan also was second in ORR overall.
Flashgirl, “Commodore” Warwick Tomkins’ Wylie 39, snagged top honors in PHRF 1, the Naos Yachts Division, with Marco Misbach on the helm and Commodore, now 94, as the most experienced crew on the Pacific.

Special Awards to Be Announced
It’s not just pure “performance.” Pac Cup hands out a number of additional awards based on other characteristics. To be announced tonight also will be:
- Best performance by an all-Corinthian crew.
- Fastest family afloat
- Best first Pacific Passage
- Best prepared yacht
- Navigator's Trophy
- 1000th Boat
- A set of “green” recognitions
- Possible surprise awards
Special recognition will be accorded to selected PCYC and KYC volunteers in recognition of their service. These awards are special, not only for the honor of the particular recipient, but because it is so very difficult to select one recipient from among the many dedicated volunteers who have made the race a reality year after year.
