2017 Bermuda 1-2 – A Coming Home
Happy New Year!
Another year, another adventure for Spadefoot and crew. Time to put plans to paper. The West Coast doesn’t have a monopoly on cool ocean races in the US. Spadefoot is easily trailerable, so we aren’t limited to sailing on only one coast. Possibly the most popular ocean race over the years has been Newport to Bermuda on the East Coast. A roughly 650nm jaunt from Rhode Island, across the Gulf Stream to the island oasis of Bermuda. Newport to Bermuda is held every two years on even years, but there is another race along the same route on odd years.... see the full post

Imagine....
I ran into a very good description written by our friend Joby Easton, who is at this moment awaiting the landfall of his beloved "Raindrop."Raindrop is a Cascade 36 just completing the return from the Victoria - Maui race run roughly at the same time as our Pacific Cup race. It's never easy to describe what life is like out there, but Joby nailed it with this:"Imagine being in your family room (a very small family room) that is tilted left to right between 10 and 30 degrees. Swaying back and forth just slightly predictably. Now pull out that old child's hobby horse. You know the one. Plastic, molded saddle and... see the full post
