Don't sail it...Ship it!
Join in the Container for speed, safety, and fun!
Deadline approaching.

Okay,
unless you have already counted yourself out of the race, you are working to
eliminate unneeded weight from your boat. This means no Kayak, no delivery
sails, etc. We can assure you from prior personal experience that handing any of
these items to your wife at the departure dock and saying "bring these to
Hawaii" is not a really good idea. Instead, ship them.   Once again two of our
board members are beginning to organize a container that will be used to ship
competitors' gear and equipment to Hawaii.

  If you have delivery
equipment that you would like to put on your boat once you arrive in Hawaii, Surf Boards you’d like to use while in Hawaii, or perhaps
clothing that you don’t want to carry on the boat during the race, you may want
to take advantage of this opportunity. The process will work just as
it did in 2006: A container will be delivered to the Richmond Yacht Club during
the week prior to the starts.  Boats that have signed up for spots in the
container will be scheduled for timeslots to drop off your gear and equipment.
The container will leave for Hawaii during the week of the starts, and if
all goes well will be sitting at the KYC for you to pick up your gear when you
finish. Right now, we need to decide whether we should rent a 20’ or
40’ container.
So, you need
to decide whether or not you want to take advantage of this opportunity.
The cost will most likely be somewhere between $250 and $350 per boat

Special Trophies
Team Trophy. Family Prize.

In addition to the all-out, guts-for-glory,
bare-knuckles competition for Division and Fleet honors, there will be some
additional trophies. Among them: the Team Trophy sponsored by the Storm Trysail
Club, awarded for best combined performance by three boats from the same yacht
club, the Blue Water Sailing Family Prize, awarded to the family-run boat with
the best performance   We are accepting team entries now, and we
are inviting qualified boats to enter the family prize running as well.
Qualifications are set out below, though we reserve the right to adjust them in
the interest of fun and fairness.
Teams This one is easy to figure out.  Three
boats. One burgee.  Skipper or on-board owner must be a member of the club (not
"PCYC") claimed.
We know that teams are forming.  Richmond
Team Blue, who is your third member?  StFYC is forming a team, and our very
first team, team Portland, is, I think, looking for a replacement entry.
Looking at the entry list, we see a number of interesting items.  There are
four Encinal boats.  There are Eleven Richmond boats, so if you play nice you
could have three clubs, maybe four if there are multiple memberships.  Five
StFYC (actually, we know there are more), and a good smattering of SSS.  There
are two very strong entrants from Waikiki YC.  If there's a third lurking out
there that could be the team to beat.   Send me a note
with your team
and we will post you ASAP.

  Families: This is advance
notice...We know you are out there. To qualify (preliminary), you must have at
one person on board who is related to two others either by being their spouse or
by at least having a grandparent in common (need only be one other person on the
DH boats). In other words spouse, parent, grandparent, siblings, and first
cousins (or legal equivalents) qualify. Hey, it's easier than figuring out the
ratings. Questions? Contact the Grand Pacific Cup Assembly on
Consanguinity.   Send me a note
identifying your boat and the qualifying family relationships

Getting the most out of your inspections.

Our Chief Inspector has now posted some really useful stuff!
First, a guide to the process and how best to pass. Check it out   He
has also attached some very useful docuyments listed below.   You know, by the way, that we have amended
the NOR?  Yup.  White flares not required.  Generators OK.  All
subject to rules, of course
.    If you are not in some sort of communication
with someone claiming to be your inspector, you are behind.  Here
is the list
