Oliver Petzold
I was scheduled to make the return trip on a boat that recently had to back out of the race. I’m still feeling geared up to do this trip and so am looking for a new crew spot in either direction. I’m currently living in San Diego but can fly up to SF to meet/sail. I have been sailing most of my life, starting with dinghy racing on the Chesapeake Bay and then keelboat racing on the SF Bay. Before moving to San Diego last year, I was racing every week out of Berkeley as team member on a Soverell 33 and later on a Melges 24. I mostly did trim and pit but am also comfortable on fore-deck and at the helm. I’m a competent sailor but am not stubborn about doing things this way or that way and am always looking to learn more. Since moving to San Diego last year I have sailed on various boats and done a fair amount of ocean sailing. Other skills include celestial navigation (which I would be more than happy to teach), CPR/FirstAid and decent cooking. I also communicate well, am easy to get along with and have always been liked by my fellow crewmembers. I can provide several references. Will cover my own transportation and miscellaneous costs. Hope to hear from you. Thanks!
