The NOR includes the equipment requirements, which are based on the 2008-2009 ISAF Offshore Special Regulations with USSailing Prescriptions. An extract is published here.

Sharp-eyed skippers will note a few changes for 2010, designed to allow more flexibility in meeting basic safety requirements. These changes are based on advances in technology as well as advancing understanding of what works.:

• There are now alternatives to the "Band-it" tool.

The NOR's equipment requirements must be read in conjunction with the 2008-2009 Offshore Special Regulations, which are the primary source of the safety requirements.
