KANEOHE YACHT CLUB'S PACIFIC CUP EVENTS

Waiting for racers, family and friends in Kaneohe are seven nights of food, frolic, and fun. The events will include:

Sunday night, July 27, Give Thanks you’re in Hawaii with Turkey dinner with garlic mashed potatoes, stuffing & dessert. Reservations suggested, call the KYC office at 808 247-4121. Price: $15

Monday night, Lasagna or Shepard’s Pie, with salads and cookies. Dinner music by Harry Koizumi on guitar. Reservations suggested, call the KYC office. Price: $15 

Tuesday night, “Jazz by the Bay” with a Creole meal of Jambalaya and New Orlean goodies. The Windward Jazz Quartet and vocalist will play a variety of musical styles and "music to dance to." Reservations at the KYC Office or http://www.pcup.org/ are strongly suggested and can be made online at the KYC office as late as Tuesday. Price: $15.

NEW!  Gilligans Island Tour ! Wednesday July 30.  Visit the island used on the sitcom shots, now turned marine biological lab.  In Kaneohe bay.  And yes, it's a three hour tour.  Join in, little buddy.

And then we have our traditional three nights of spectacular fun starting with 

Wednesday night, July 30, Hawaiian Luau, features Chief Sielu Avea, back from his triumphant, award-winning movie debut at Robert Redford’s Sundance Festival.  Authentic Hawaiian food for your fork, chopsticks or fingers. This is a really fun event and priced at about half the price of any other Luau on Oahu. Google the Polynesian Cultural Center to see a picture of the Chief and the dancers! Thursday, Mount Gay Night, offers the commemorative red hat, 2 Mount Gay rum drinks, and four food serving stations with “A Taste of Kaneohe”. “Large pupu sized” food is served at 4 stations  including a starter, starch, main dish and dessert. For those wanting more than one serving of each, you can purchase tickets for more of any selection. A steel drum band begs you to get a bit crazy and dance the night away. Friday night, The Awards Ceremony starts with awards and prizes from 5:00 until 7:00 followed by Coconut Joe with music for all to party and dance 7:00 - …. Pupu tables will feature a variety of yummy foods and a free drink (wine, beer or mai tai) is included. This will be a packed house so don’t miss it. Make your reservations at  http://www.pcup.org/. Every afternoon, at 17:03 hours (OK, 5 p.m.), if there have been new boat finishes, there will be the new “1703 Follies”. Each finisher will be challenged to present a limerick that best describes their race, boat, crew or that of some other boat they have “learned to love”. The winner for each day will win a prize AND the right to demand a “settling of scores” with another yacht on the El Toro Race course Thursday afternoon. The overall winner will also present their limerick at the Awards Ceremony to receive the much-deserved accolades from fellow racers.
